Project Proposal: Ford F250 Super Duty EV Drivetrain Conversion

Our partners approached us to propose an innovative project to convert the Ford F250 Super Duty to an Electric Vehicle (EV) drivetrain. With that in mind, our approach ensured full integration with existing options, leveraging the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus system to enable the retention and functionality of all factory controls and switches, offering a seamless OEM look post-conversion.

Objectives

  1. Convert the Ford F250 Super Duty to an all-electric drivetrain while preserving the original functionalities and aesthetics.

  2. Utilize the CAN bus system to enable bidirectional communication for full integration of existing controls and switches.

  3. Provide a comprehensive solution that offers the performance and reliability expected from both Ford and EV vehicles.

Conversion Process

  1. Removal of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) Components: The project kicked off with the removal of the ICE components, including the engine, transmission, exhaust system, and fuel tanks.
