We had an amazing track day testing the SCALAR SCR1, the first all-electric amateur touring race car. The SCR1 is based on the Toyota GR86, but with a powerful electric powertrain that delivers 328 hp and 345 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. The acceleration was incredible, with a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 165 mph. The handling was also superb, thanks to the Torsen limited-slip differential and the Ohlins dampers. The SCR1 felt like a mid-engine car with its balanced weight distribution. The battery pack lasted for more than 45 minutes of track time and recharged in less than 20 minutes with a DC fast-charger. The SCR1 is the first club racing electric vehicle approved by the National Auto Sport Association for touring car road racing1. We can’t wait to race it at HyperFest next year!
